best week in pictures!

hello everyone! so i am going to share some pictures from this past week. I don't have too many wedding pictures to share, but the wedding was BEAUTIFUL and perfect. Once I get some pictures, I will put them up here. For now, check out my mom's blog!

So for starters, I married this great man...

Photobucket

And then we rode off into the sunset to the Grand America and Park City on our honeymoon! The Grand America hotel was super fancy with a fantastic and delicious brunch. Park City was beautiful and relaxing. We painted mugs, explored downtown, went to a movie... it was great. It was wonderful weather, until the last day when we drove home, but that doesn't matter.

Now we are back in cozy Provo. We are working on cleaning up our apartment, and it is tons of fun! Check out our shelf in the kitchen... and the new TV stand... and the couch! YAY! It is pretty great. We also celebrated my birthday with a tasty german chocolate cake, the tulip festival, and oceans (the new disney earth day movie)! Also, my wonderful husband got me great presents for my birthday (butterfingers, a new hairdryer because mine broke, nancy drew games to play on his computer, and 2 yoga mats with a yoga video so we can get fit and start a rockin' hobby!) We are now livin' the high life!

every year at finals, i discover something to waste my time. usually it is something online, funny, and pointless (i.e. lolcats or in this years case, failblog).

kids say the darndest things

hello everyone,
sorry it has been so long since i've written... life has been positively crazy. i just finished my month in the practicum for schools (i was in second grade in orem). it was so much fun. the kids are hillarious- every day had a new story. now that i don't have that, i have a TINY bit more time to write. work is going well, i have listened to just about every nicholas sparks book there is on my ipod, so that's pretty great. so how 'bout some stories from the practicum? =)

one of the boys in my class loves to draw and he is super funny. here is a picture he drew for me. he told me it was "half venom, half man, half pac-man." very serious.

another little boy kindly informed us that he wore his lucky underwear for half of christmas break. aren't we lucky? =)

this same boy made quite the comment in the library one day. the librarian was reading them a book and she said, "i hope all of you get a chance to look up at clouds and make pictures with them." the other little kids were all into the cloud prospect, when the little boy said bitterly, "looking at clouds is for little girls."

on the last day, audrey and i decided to play outside with them at lunch recess. we played tag and two little boys had a head-tooth collision. i didn't see it, but i saw one little boy rolling on the floor and another little boy SCREAMING bloody murder. i am not kidding when i say screaming. like blood curtling, terrified scream. well, i surely signed up to be a teacher, not a paramedic. i didn't know that using my techniques of getting the victims away from the scene to avoid shock would be useful in the second grade classroom. his mouth was bleeding (i can empathize) and it took a lot of convincing to tell him to calm down enough to go into the nurse's office. just horrifying.

possibly one of my favorite little boys (he looked like chancho from nacho libre, which is adorable), always said and did the FUNNIEST things. he is super sweet too.

one day we stood up for pledge and his ski vest was pulled up over his face, and consequently, he was stuck. his arms were flailing in the air and he made a little moan. i tried so hard to not die of laughter... i don't think that worked out for me.

one time, i was reading to the class about a book called "the perfect nest" which is a story about a cat who makes a nest. long story short, the birds lay eggs in there, the birds leave, and the eggs start to hatch. one of the things that we are taught to do is to help the kids make predictions about what will happen next in the book. so, i asked the students what they thought. and this little boy raised his hand and said, "he's gonna cook the chickens alive!" woah. definitely a prediction, but shocking nonetheless.

on our last day (very sad day), the kids made us thank you cards. basically, i wanted to cry all day because they were so cute and sweet. this same little boy came up to me and gave me a hug and said, "i am gonna miss you so much ms. barton." i almost cried because he has this precious little lisp. aw. he is just so cute. he also gave me this card.

what is it? well, he told me. it is a penguin singing for me. (i told them all that my favorite colors were purple and blue, i loved penguins, and my favorite food was spaghetti).

hence the spaghetti in my going away cards. =)

isn't this such a good drawing for a second grader? look at all of those circles! i am impressed.

all of them are just precious. just so you know, working with little kids is the best feeling ever. =)

also, 3 WEEKS UNTIL I GET MARRIED!
